A Little Confused
Apparently President Trump has rejected Iran’s seven-day cease-fire proposal. Instead, Trump plans to restart bombing after the midterm elections. My confusion is this—what does one have to do with the other? I mean, if this president can find time to deal with renaming Lake Ontario and New Mexico, why can’t he deal with elections and blow things up at the same time? And, look, if he isn’t starting again until after the midterm elections, isn’t that more than seven days? It’s all so confusing.
The Government We Don’t Trust
The Supreme Court gave the Donald the go ahead to continue using the DHS SAVE database for verifying voter rolls for potential noncitizens. A lower court blocked it, but the Supreme Court reversed that ruling. Apparently a government should have a listing of citizens in its domain that can be used to verify … citizenship. Others are pretty sure you can’t allow a government to have that kind of power … or something like that. I always thought the same when the teacher was calling roll in school. “Is it fair she would know who is supposed to be in this class?”
Real Humanitarians
Russia continues its humanitarian mission to kill civilians in Ukraine. This week they hit a steelmaker, killing seven civilians. The United Nations doesn’t seem to mind. A few less Ukrainians isn’t “inhumane.”
A Staggering Statistic
Canada is reporting that, currently, assisted suicides make up 10% of all deaths in Canada. Mind you, COVID killed less than 2% of those who got it and in Canada legal suicide is killing at a rate of 10% of all deaths. The story says, “These people are dying to leave Canada.” Was that an attempt at humor?
Fake News to Make Your Day
On that “assisted suicide” story out of Canada, the Bee reported that Canada clarified that “assisted suicide” meant “totally unsolicited murder,” which cleared things up for a lot of people. In politics, there is a movement afoot to nominate Alexandra Ocasio Cortez (AOC) for president in 2028 (actual story). The Bee responded with the story of a man who’s taking solace in the belief that AI will destroy humanity before that happens. Could she actually win? Don’t worry; we won’t live that long. Finally, there’s the story of the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations where they still want people to take them seriously. Fortunately, no one is taking them seriously on that.
Must be true; I read it on the internet.

A Little Confused
I don't think he's waiting until after the elections because he can't focus on both at once, but because he knows that dropping more bombs will sink their ratings even further, something Republicans running for the House and Senate do not need. I think it's pointless, but only because I fully expect the Democrats to win control of both the House and Senate, and win the presidency in '28, no matter what Trump does, unless he can perform magic that reduces the cost of living to pre-2020 days (hint: magic isn't real). It doesn't help that people seem to have this idea that the Federal government has the ability to change the prices of goods and services simply by fiat.
The Government We Don't Trust
I know it happens in both sides, but it seems the Left has a greater tendency toward cognitive dissonance. They don't trust the government enough to have a list of valid voters, but also we need the government to save us from ourselves. Individuals should not own guns because that's what police are for, but also all cops are bad. Black lives matter, unless they're in the womb, the most dangerous place for a black woman. Listen to all women, unless they're beautiful and hold mildly conservative ideas like "Beautiful women are beautiful". (I know much of this will probably not make sense, but these examples are pulled from other news items.)
Real Humanitarians
No word from the UN on Russia, but they are certainly opposed to Israel defending itself while simultaneously supply food and medical aid to those that wish them dead. The UN will claim that what Israel is doing in Gaza is a genocide, but did you know that over the course of that war the Gazan population actually increased, due mainly to normal reproductive means? Israel is really bad at genocide.
A Staggering Statistic
It is crazy to me how fast this has come about. There was an episode of Star Trek: Voyager in the 2000s that found a species that performed euthanasia on those that would be a drain on their societies medical system, and the moral of the story was how horrible that was. But now, not even twenty years later we're embracing the killing of undesirables under the guise of "care".
