News Weakly - 11/15/2025

International Hate
Two BBC leaders resigned after a scandal over edited Trump video that made it appear as if Trump called for violence on January 6, 2021 ... when he, in fact, did not. Amazing, isn't it? Trump was hated from Great Britain. Bias from across the pond. Of course, bias on this side is more obvious ... and no one is resigning. And we can expect that Trump may sue the BBC for it.

No Surprise
It came as no surprise that the Supreme Court refused Kim Davis's appeal to overturn their 2015 decision to make "same-sex mirage"1 the law of the land. As stupid as the notion is, we're not backing off of it anytime soon. Have you seen those LGBT types? They're scary when they're mad.

Congress finally got around to restarting the government. After the longest shutdown ever, they finally found a way to compromise. Why did it take so long? Because they aren't doing their jobs. They haven't in a long time. They should be fired. But ... they represent us. Maybe we should be.

No More "Power to the People"
California's Prop 50 was touted as an "anti-Trump" proposition. In fact, it was a redistricting proposition in direct response to Texas's attempt to redistrict for Republican purposes. The double standard is deep with this one (on both sides). So now the Justice Department is suing to block the redistricting that would effectively lock out the vast areas of Republicans in the state and make California a purely Democrat state. So much for "looking out for the little guy." "Power to the Democrats" is the only purpose.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is considering banning biological males from competing in female sports in the 2028 Lost Angeles Olympics. (No, that wasn't a typo. I was just making a point.) California (of course) has been pushing for inclusion of biological males competing against females as long as they say in a high voice, "But ... I'm a real girl." Is it the effect of Disneyland ... you know ... Fantasyland and the "Magic Kingdom"?

Apparently the IOC watched an old episode of Mister Roger's Neighborhood and discovered, "Your body's fancy, and so is mine." Now they're considering banning biological males from competing against females. Thanks, Fred. Next, Trump is proposing a 50-year mortgage option to make payments more affordable (actual story). Lenders will require grandkids to co-sign the mortgages while some fear Trump's eternal mortgage option. And ... we've just learned that Democrats only agreed to end the shutdown in exchange for a 15% off coupon from Cracker Barrel. Shrewd ... very shrewd.

Must be true; I read it on the internet.

________
1 I am not trying to be unkind with the use of the term "same-sex mirage". I need to continually point out that there is a fundamental difference between "marriage" and what we are calling "marriage" when we put the term "same-sex", "homosexual", or "gay" in front of it. I am not objecting to it on moral grounds. I am objecting because they're not the same thing, and I use "mirage" in its place to call that to your attention.

And their apology was weak. "We didn't mean to make it look like he said what we made it look like he said." That's basically the "I'm sorry you're offended" apology.

No Surprise
No joke. Those LGBT folk just start shooting random Christians (often Christian children) when they get mad.

And their compromise wasn't even close to anything they were arguing for to keep the shutdown going. But since most politicians are more concerned about their careers than their constituents, the purple state Democrats had to fold. And the lie that this was a Republican shutdown, I'm not sure how that has been so widely spread, except for ignorance of how the government works. As for firing them, the only way that is going to happen is a removal of universal suffrage. Too many people have the ability to vote who only vote Blue or Red without any care for who the actual person is or what they stand for. That's why Harris got as many votes as she did, and why Mamdani won NYC.

No More "Power to the People"
Democrats really openly denied that expression when they slammed Harris into the presidential race without a single vote from the people. As I said above, too many politicians are more concerned about holding their job than doing what's best for their people.

First, I really enjoy your title reference to the story. Second, it is simply insane that it has come to this. If you're going to allow men (I hate the term "biological men") to compete in women's sports, then simply remove any gender distinction from sports, thus removing women from sports at any moderately high level. When it comes to athletics, there is no question between the sexes. If you want to keep the competition fair, the option of men in women's competition should never have even been a stray thought. And yet, here we are debating it at the highest levels.

I don't know who's whispering in Trump's ear, but this 50 year mortgage is simply insane and stupid. At best, going from a 30 to a 50 year will short term save a couple hundred bucks each month. But if you sell your house after ten years (because let's be honest, how many people are actually living in the same house for more than 30 years anymore) you are losing 10s of thousands of dollars of equity between a 30 of 50 year loan. There's a reason banks aren't even asking for the ability to make those types of loans. The default rate is already too high because of the illusion of home ownership provided by a 30 year loan. That will only get worse under 50 year loan, allowing even more people who can't actually afford the mortgage to feel like they can, and to not ever own their home.

I recently watched a sermon on YouTube from a church pastor who used the term “homosex” for the activity condemned by God (as in, “those who engage in homosex”). I had never heard that before but feel it makes good sense. Anyone else encounter that term?

The government shutdown was frustrating. “You people have one job: keep the government going. Kindly complete the duties you are hired to do.” (It has been personally worrisome because my husband is set to retire in two short months, and we need to get enrolled in Medicare and Social Security this month--a challenging venture even under the best of circumstances. We certainly don’t relish dealing with a nonoperational government--now or going forward. But then again, “a working government” is a bit of a contradiction in any case.)

I still haven’t forgiven the powers-that-be (DJT in particular) for the government shutdown in 2018. My husband and I had flown to San Diego, CA, for our very first trip to the west coast; we were looking forward to visiting our first western U.S. national park. Unfortunately, the government shutdown ruined our plans to visit Joshua Tree National Park (and I doubt we’ll get back to southern California, so “thanks a lot, guys”).

You wrote, "[just] say in a high voice, ‘But ... I'm a real girl.’ Is it the effect of Disneyland ... you know ... Fantasyland and the "Magic Kingdom"? Just like when Pinocchio the wooden puppet said, “I’m a real boy!” Ah, that Disney magic…or rather delusion. Some people, like Peter Pan, need to grow up and accept reality.

The proposal for a 50-year mortgage made me laugh. My husband and I purchased our very first house in 1983 and have never been without a mortgage payment since then (we were always refinancing our mortgages to pay off debts or get cash for home improvements, pre-owned cars, etc.). We built our current home in 1991 and needed to accelerate our payments in order to make our last payment in January 2026, when my husband retires (as mentioned above). So we’ve essentially had a 42-year mortgage. (But we don’t have any grandkids to co-sign for us. :)

The following link is an article describing the Davis case as it actually was. Overturning Obergefell was not the driving issue for bringing the case to SCOTUS.

At one time I used the term "homosex" somewhat routinely in blog debates and the homosexuals and their enablers had some kind of problem with it...another case of them finding a way to play victim and cast aspersions. I prefer not to use the word "gay" in relation to this disorder and always put it in quotations when I do.

I appreciate your input, Marshal Art. I figure it’s a synonym of “gay sex,” but “homosex” strikes me as more accurate, as it would cover homosexual acts committed by both males (gays) and females (lesbians). I might adopt the term myself, as I said, even though AI Overview says it’s offensive--but as Stan headed up this blurb, “no surprise” there!
