Juxtaposition
It's probably more the juxtaposition of stories than the stories themselves that caught my eye. First story: a 20 foot whale collided with a boat and died. Second story: a guy driving a truck collided with a moose near Denali National Park. The man died. On my news feed, the stories were next to each other. Interesting, because a 20 foot whale to a motor boat is massive, while a pickup truck to a moose is massive. They had the opposite effects. Jesus claimed, "I have the keys of Death and Hades" (Rev 1:18). He wasn't kidding.
Mixed Feelings
I've been repeating this mantra ... "the system is working." So now, federal judges have sided with Trump on removing union protections for federal workers. Personally, I'm ... mixed. I don't like unions ... one bit. And I understand that certain categories ... police, fire, and such ... need to be working regardless of their "benefits" concerns. I suppose federal workers might fall in that category, but ... I don't know. It seems like an attempt not against unions, but against workers, and that bothers me.
Another Peaceful Protest?
A synagogue in Rutherford, N.J. burned to the ground. The cause is not yet known, but the same synagogue was firebombed in 2012. It wouldn't surprise me if this was a case of pro-Palestinian response to Netanyahu's plan to take control of Gaza City. Because pro-Palestinian responses are generally peaceful ... or ... not.
Makes Census
Trump is calling for a new census that would exclude undocumented immigrants. Now ... is that reasonable?? Well ... actually ... yes.
Your Best Source for Fake News
Democrats are warning that Trump's new census could negate all the illegal alien votes that Biden received. Unfair!! The Bee has a helpful tip for dealing with depression. Go for a run. Because the misery of running will distract from the depression. Makes sense.
Must be true; I read it on the internet.

Makes census - such a clever guy!
Thinking about thinking about running makes me depressed.
Juxtaposition
It does seem odd that they would have been so close to each other display-wise. Dr. Mohler often explains that how news is displayed sometimes has its own worldview significance. He mostly focuses that on the old print edition of newspapers, but it's just as true online. Not sure what they were implying here, but I'm sure it wasn't an accident...(rimshot).
Mixed Feelings
I believe unions had a purpose back when we didn't have laws about work. Today, they don't seem to care as much about protecting workers as they do protecting their power and income, at the cost of both employer and employee, and even consumer when they run long enough. It is concerning to me that there are unions in the essential services the government provides that can, and have, put it's citizens in danger. That just sounds dangerous that a few union leaders can shut down the federal government, the police, or the fire department, and the people on either side of the strike have no say.
Another Peaceful Protest
I don't think that word means what you think it means. College students blocking people and destroying campus facilities and property, or race hustlers rioting, looting, and burning a city, or pro illegal immigration folks attacking ICE agents and firebombing facilities, are all expressed in the media as "mostly peaceful". But if I say a mean (read true) thing about sex and gender, I've committed an act of violence upon your person.
Makes Census
I've been hearing how the redistricting in Texas or the calls for a new census since EVERYONE agrees that the last census had major mistakes are "unconstitutional". But when I read it, it simply says it must be done within 10 years, not they there must be 10 years between. If there are glaring mistakes everyone can see in districting or census numbers, it seems to me it is the responsibility of the government to fix it as soon as possible. And the "argument" for allowing illegals to be counted ignores a very clear clause that excludes untaxed Indians. It seems logical to me that illegals fall closer to the untaxed Indian category than the children who can't vote category.
I'm all for doing away with Federal unions. They are supported by taxes and should be negotiating their pay. I've worked under two federal unions and both were corruptly defending the lazy and incompetent. First was the Postal Union, which I refused to join but watched people sitting in their sorting cubicles (for non-machinable mail) with the same tray for their entire shift because it was against the union contract--no minimum work could be required.
I had to join the Air Traffic Control union in order to certify--it was illegal to do that but the local union president had a private time with all new employees and so stated that if you want certification, you will join. So then when was was certified to train I would have people I couldn't recommend so the other supervisor, wanting to be friends with the union, certified the incompetent. Two specifically I remember had horrible errors that were covered up. The one had three separation errors with the same two planes!! (The pilots told me they thought THEY were at fault). This was hidden until one controller who witnessed it finally felt guilty enough to tell me. The three near collisions with the same planes should never have happened--I had recommended the man not be certified!! After the investigation the management decided to rectify and he was no better. One of the reasons I no longer wanted to be a supervisor and transferred elsewhere. And since I was already a certified controller there was nothing they could to me at my new location.
The entire notion of public employees unions seems like a giant conflict of interest. The unions take millions from their members, donate millions of candidates from one party, then negotiate with the very people they donate to in order to funnel more tax dollars to the union.
At a very minimum, public employees unions should be forbidden from contributing to the campaign of anyone that might be in a position to influence negotiations.
