News Weakly - 5/24/2025

Darwin Award
A terrorist exploded a bomb at a Palm Springs, CA, fertility clinic killing one and injuring four. The 25-year-old male suspect was the only fatality. He was a self-identified "antinatalist," someone who believes that humans should not procreate. He succeeded in removing himself from the gene pool. Antinatalism has been around, but really rose after the global warming "pandemic" where the obvious only answer to climate change is the elimination of the "anthropogenic" part of climate change -- humans. Need I say more?

Not What They Wanted to Hear
Pope Leo recently called for "investing in the family, founded upon the stable union between a man and a woman." Bad news for those hoping for more "LGBT-friendly." He spoke out against "gender ideology" and claimed "God created man and woman." And he argued that abortion "is at odds with the Gospel." The loon. I can't comment on the pope's spiritual condition, but I do think he's not a Pope Francis. He seems to be ... more biblical.

The Leadership We Need
Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver is being charged with assault in a skirmish at an ICE center. When we vote for leaders to fight for us, that's not quite what we mean.

Wrong Way
COP30 is the United Nations Climate Change Conference coming up in November. It's being held in Belém, Brazil, a smaller city, so Brazil is cutting down thousands of Amazon rainforest trees to make a road to get there. One obvious topic at this COP30 will be the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. Kind of like California clearing hundreds of acres of desert habitat ... to save the planet with solar panels ... only worse.

All the Fake News That's Fit to Print
A Mexican ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge (actual story), prompting Trump to declare war on Mexico after their heinous attack. Experts say AI will never replace Congress because it's not soulless enough. And Democrats have started a strategy of complaining loudly about Trump every day since "lawfare," slander, and false accusations haven't worked.

Must be true; I read it on the Internet.

And yet they still accuse conservatives of being the violent group. To be fair, hearing that it was a fertility clinic does make you think it could be, but nope, still a leftist loon. I don't think I've ever heard of a Planned Parenthood being attacked by an Abolitionist, even though we believe they are committing mass murder.

Not What They Want To Hear
Glad he's turning the papacy around on these social issues. If only he'd correct it on the theological ones.

The Leadership We Need
I forget who said it, "Democracy is when the people get what they want, good and hard." I seriously doubt her actions were surprising to anyone that voted for her. It seems more and more, that the Left is leaning more toward taking what they want by force, since they can't seem to take it by law.

Wrong Way
Not to mention all the private jets all the attendees will be using. The hypocrisy of the environmentalist leadership is always on full display.

That AI headline really have me a good chuckle. Apparently this Congress has been the least active Congress in my lifetime for the first 100 days of a presidency. It may not be the best or preferred way, but what else is Trump supposed to do instead of executive orders of Congress proves itself every day to be ineffectual? Congress is the exact reason I do not have high hopes for any President I vote for to accomplish much of anything.

Regarding the new pope affirming traditional stances on gender, homosexuality, abortion, and the like, I view that as Leo being more Catholic than Francis was in that regard. (Of course, Leo has also affirmed all the very unbiblical RC dogma and practices, so I would never consider him “more biblical” beyond those particular issues.) And this highlights a major dilemma for Catholics: Whom should “the faithful” believe about those issues--Francis or Leo? Afterall, for twelve years, Francis was deemed “the Vicar of Christ”--supposedly standing in Christ’s place on earth and leading His followers to obey His teachings--yet he sounded quite different on those issues, as you point out. Clearly, the RCC is acting to set those things straight and disaffirm their former “infallible” leader (at least on those issues).

David, you commented about the new pope, “Glad he's turning the papacy around on these social issues. If only he'd correct it on the theological ones.” I would heartily concur, but then I’m fully aware that if that happened, (as I commented at News Weakly for 5/10/25) he’d be out of a job (so to speak), so there’s that predicament.

I'm not sure about the politics of the papacy, but can they "recall" a Pope?

I can’t answer that, but I think you might have misunderstood my point. Rather than a specific pope being removed/replaced or censured somehow, I meant that if anyone within the RCC truly corrected its theological errors related to the papacy, as you hoped for, then the entire RC clerical system would be eliminated as a result; thus Leo and all his fellow clergy members would be “out of work.”
