Back in the day, when I was learning how to drive a car, my teachers taught me to look where I was going. I know ... sounds simple. But there was a point. People often are inclined when they're driving to look at things where they don't plan to go. Look at the parked cars to make sure you don't hit them. Look at oncoming traffic to stay out of their way. That kind of thing. It's an odd phenomenon, but human beings have a tendency to end up going in the direction they are looking. So watching the parked cars go by will very likely put you into the parked cars. No ... watch where you're going!
Jack Hayford noted, "Worship changes the worshiper into the image of the One worshiped." Same concept. We can look at the sin we want to avoid and likely end up in it. We can look at the heroes of the faith and likely become more like them. However, the ultimate place to look is at the One we are to worship. When we conform our lives to worshiping God -- to recognizing His worth-ship -- we will tend to take on more of His image. And isn't that, ultimately, what we really want?
