Accomplice to Murder?
Iran has threatened U.S. carriers and China, in an attempt to keep on good terms with the U.S., is planning to sell Iran some supersonic missiles capable of destroying American carriers. If a criminal wishes to buy a weapon to kill a person and a weapons dealer knowingly sells it to him for that purpose, is the weapons dealer guilty, too? If this goes through and Iran succeeds in attacking an American carrier with a Chinese missile, I'm pretty sure it won't end well ... for anyone.

The Supreme Court ruled that the president did not have the emergency powers to order global tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act ... so Trump invoked Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 to add a 10% global tariff ... no ... wait ... make it 15%. I always said Trump was a businessman. I just questioned whether he was a good president.

Mass Murder
In a horrible crime outside a home in Washington state, a man stabbed multiple people. The man killed four people and was killed himself by police. A protection order had been issued but not yet served prior to the event. The nation is rising to the anti-knife movement, calling for the banning of all knives ... or, at the very least, assault knives.

Another Blah, Blah, Blah
The President of the United States delivered the annual State of the Union address in which he defended his record. Like ... every other president before. Some lies, some truths. Lots of support and lots of outrage. Like every other president before. Not really ... news, is it?

The report is out that the Defense Department used a "high-energy laser" to shoot down a Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) drone over military air space in Texas. Apparently, the laser was on a drone itself. You know ... sci-fi stuff. Perhaps the most disturbing part of the story to me is where it cites "four people familiar with what transpired who were not authorized to discuss it publicly." I'm thinking this has to be a crime ... and it's not the shooting down that I'm talking about.

With all the big names dropping off the map from being linked to the Epstein scandal, one wonders how "fake news" it is when the Bee does a story about politicians on the Epstein list grilling other politicians on the Epstein list. Sounds like real news, to me. On the State of the Union, Trump talked a long, long time, causing the Bee to suggest that it was a plot to secure a third term ... by talking for 7 straight years. I don't know ... he might just be able to do it. And weren't we all a little bit surprised when the Bee reported that the Democratic response to the State of the Union was going to be delivered by Bad Bunny ... and it turned out not to be true? I mean ... made sense.

Must be true; I read it on the internet.

I don't think China is really afraid of the US, and honestly, over the last 30 years, we haven't given them a reason to. If they do sell hypersonic missiles that do kill American servicemen, what are we going to do about it, yell about it and cross our arms with a big pout on our faces? I mean, nobody is worried that Russia is going to do anything to us over our support of Ukraine. In China's mind, they're doing the same thing for Iran.

I think Trump looks at how the world used to be and how the US government made most of its money from tariffs and wants that again. I just don't think the world works like that anymore, especially because of how deeply we've shipped our manufacturing industries internationally. World War II, we were dumping airplanes into the ocean because we had made too many in such a short time. We aren't capable of that scale anymore. Tariffs on products we can easily manufacture here is helpful for boosting the American product. Tariffs on products we can't easily manufacture here simply raises the cost here.

"Assault knives", snerk. They have a word for that, swords. And those are basically banned already. I don't know that there are any open carry sword states, though pre-teen me would have loved that. Give it time though. They aren't trying to ban knives yet because they this delusional belief that guns are the problem and not people. And they refuse to look to the countries that have banned guns, and then knives. Just this year, in England, a teenage girl was arrested for brandishing a knife in defense against a man threatening her and her little sister. No charges for the man, just her for the knife. So yes, they would ban the "assault knives", once they've banned the guns. I mean, I'm not sure what we're supposed to do against criminals that don't care about such bans after they've also successfully banned the police they hate so much as well. It's almost like they believe people are basically good, and if you simply took care of their basic needs there would never be crime ever. They definitely have no grasp on reality, but hey, at least we're letting them have legal power. Another reason I think this country is cooked.

But hey, at least he broke the previous record...set by himself.

I'm not totally sure it was a crime for them to divulge that information, but they certainly should receive some sort of punishment from whoever deemed them unauthorized to speak. They weren't exactly divulging state secrets.

It is kind of surprising they didn't have some foreigner leading one of their counter State of the Union events (they had two or three different counter-programmed events kind of like the Super Bowl half-time show from TPUSA).

And with the breaking news, apparently the Chinese hypersonic missiles will be too little too late.

I would never listen to a SOTU speech, but I appreciated insights from a man I follow (Pat Kahnke), who did listen to it and commented on several outrageous claims that Donald Trump made in his address:

“We love religion, and we love bringing it back. And it’s coming back at levels that nobody actually thought possible. It’s really a beautiful thing to see.”

“There has been a tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity, and belief in God.”

“When God needs a nation to work his miracles, he knows exactly who to ask.”

Words from a person who doesn’t understand Christianity, renewal, or the God of the Bible--or, apparently, how such points (even if they could be substantiated) would diverge from the core constitutional responsibilities of the President of the United States.
