New York City Mayor Mamdani is promising $15 million of taxpayers' money to pay for “hormone therapy, surgery and mental health case management” for “trans people” in New York City. Taxpayer-funded cosmetic surgery for gender-confused people. Makes sense … somewhere … just not in the real world.

Idaho tried to make it illegal for a male to use the female bathroom and vice versa, and a federal judge barred them from doing the sane thing. It seems to me that the Constitution bars the federal government from overruling States (the 10th Amendment), but, hey, I’m not the king, so what say do I have? But we’ve come a long way from rational thinking when we define “male” and “female” by “how I feel” rather than biology and chromosomes and consider that "reasonable."

Reality Check
As if in response to our conversation about the basic goodness of humanity, two stories surfaced this week … to suggest otherwise. First was the feds in New Jersey seizing two websites specializing in making AI-generated fake explicit images of famous women. The second was the report on minors being targeted by AI-generated fake images of minors in nude or explicit conditions. Add to that the admission that more than half admit to having created AI-generated porn themselves, and we have a serious problem across the board. The reality is we’re sinful beings at the core … and our “artificial intelligence” has no moral boundaries at all. We're naive if we think it will make ours a better world. But your federal government is seeking to literally give AI more power. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Risky Technology
If that last story doesn’t concern you, this next one won’t either … but should. Now they’re testing the “world’s first” vaccine designed solely by artificial intelligence. It’s supposed to treat a large swath of viruses. Now, given the well-documented failures of human sciences on understanding and coping with these things, and realizing that AI is only the extension of human thought and human knowledge … what makes them think this amoral, not-actually-intelligent system that we have made will be able to succeed where we have failed? Isn’t it more likely that AI will succeed in creating unintended consequences to a greater level than we have?

The Bee made a joke about Iran winning $300 billion for coming in second in the Iran War. Turns out, this “peace agreement” between Trump and Iran does include a $300 billion payout to Iran (actual story). We ridiculed Biden for abandoning $7 billion in armaments in Afghanistan for the Taliban to use. Now we’re giving “peace-loving” Iran $300 billion? I’m sure they’ll only use it for nice purposes. It only gets worse from there. Using Trump’s approach, a husband successfully negotiates his wife down to absolutely everything she wants. Meanwhile, world leaders are lining up to ask Trump to bomb their countries for a little while so they can receive a few hundred billion as well. (Reminds me of The Mouse that Roared.)

Must be true; I read it on the internet.

It goes to show how expensive these delusions are, since there's only like 100 of them in the city (guessing since "transgenders" make up less than 1% of the total population and would have a slightly higher concentration in New York). The way everyone talks about this illness you'd think we were in some sort of widespread pandemic. So much effort and money put into such a small (numerically) problem. I'm not exactly how spending 15 million dollars on such a small community is supposed to help New Yorkers with their affordability crisis, but it's not like it's new for politicians to promise something and then simply make things worse.

We stopped a federally linked set of sovereign states long before I was born. The majority of people will argue for states rights, but really want the federal government to fix everything to be uniform nationally. We are no longer the United States, we are simply America. That's why more people turn out per state for federal elections than they do state elections. We've given the Fed more power than the Founders ever wanted it to have, and then have the judges the ability to dictate law without actually writing the laws or the people voting for it. Democracy is the wool in front of our eyes making us think "the people" are in control, but we're not.

Reality Check
Like all technology, AI is only as moral as the people using it, and we are very not moral, especially in our own homes.

Some of the things they are doing with AI in medicine are amazing (I just heard of the beginning of being able to reconnect severed nerve endings using computer controlled cells) but AI isn't any smarter than we are, simply faster. How could anyone even try to think of a universal vaccine? Reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode where the guy injected himself with AI nanobots and they ended up turning him into something not human trying to "correct" everything wrong with him.

Biden released $6 billion to Iran which directly led to October 7th. Imagine the devastation Iran can reap with $300 billion. Good job, Mister President. You said it was a bad deal when Biden did 6, but 300 is much better. I'm glad I didn't vote for this guy because I thought he'd be great for the country, but because I believed God wanted him there. Releasing $300 billion to Iran will be devastating for the Middle East. Accepting this deal will embolden Russia and China (bad for Ukraine and Taiwan), and put more American soldiers in danger in the Middle East as Iran funds more ballistic missiles and its terror proxies. But hey, he got the oil prices to drop a little and the stock market to rise a little. At least for a couple days, before Hezbollah broke the ceasefire and Israel responded. Trump is doing his best to prove the saying true, "Iran doesn't win wars, but they never lose negotiations." (Or something to that effect.)
