It keeps the new generations thinking about their theology. If the Trinity had been settled to everyone's satisfaction 1700 years ago, we probably wouldn't even know about that doctrine now. These constant jabs help us to keep our defenses up and ready to give a reason for the faith that is in us. As is apparent the other topics you push, complacency is the downfall of orthodoxy. And I seriously think that if Christianity wasn't under assault for so long, it wouldn't have lasted this long.
