The War Monger
Trump is considering starting a war in Mali. That’s the media’s take. The truth is Trump is threatening to strike a terrorist group in Mali, not attack Mali. Whether or not that’s a good idea is an entirely different subject.
Moral High Ground
As if Iran and Trump aren’t enough, Yemen’s Houthi’s are going to blockade another key strait. They plan to blockade the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the entrance to the Gulf of Suez. Both Iran and the Houthis continue to target civilians as their primary strategy. That’s how you can tell they hold the higher moral ground. Oh … wait.
Price Gouging
Oil prices have spiked again, this time over $100 a barrel. That means your fuel prices will get worse. That means everything will cost more money. That means … we won’t be happy.
Legislative Blockade
The media bias is present again. The most common headline for this story was that the House voted to curb the president’s war powers. True. Time assured us that Republicans were on board. However, the truth is the Senate blocked the measure. In other words, there is an ongoing blockade on our government to accomplish just about anything at all.

New York Mayor Mamdami has threatened to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for war crimes. Jewish leaders are faulting the mayor for fomenting an increase in antisemitic attacks in New York City with his rhetoric. Can’t be. Mamdani has always been thoughtful and deeply concerned about Jews. Or … not.
Now for the Latest in Fake News
Trump trotted out the election fraud claims (actual story) and no one was impressed, but New Jersey announced it was a software glitch that accidentally enrolled the country of Bolivia as voters. In entertainment news, the new movie, The Odessy, is out and Matt Walsh is complaining that they didn’t cast actual Greek demigods in the roles. What’s wrong with Hollywood? And Mayor Mamdami is condemning the rise in violence against Jews that has occurred since he declared war on them. We can trust him, right?
Must be true; I read it on the internet.
The War Monger
ReplyDeleteIn the media's view, and I repeat myself by saying the Left's, any use of military power by a Republican President is warmongering. Nevermind Obama did it multiple times, even extending beyond the limitations of the War Powers Act without Congressional approval. But a Republican does it and it's warmongering. Nevermind that terrorists have openly declared war on anyone that doesn't agree with them. In the media's view, why should we even have a military when we have a Republican President?
Moral High Ground
But you see, those civilian vessels are a threat to their way of life. If the world prospers it is harder for them to forcefully spread Islam. Of course, they're going about it all wrong. If they could moderate themselves for a little while, the West will forget what Islam really wants and allow people that hate our way of life into our countries and into our governments where they can do some real work "converting" the West through our suicidal empathy. The more they fight back in the Middle East, the more reminded of how dangerous they can be. A softer touch and they could rule our cities where they can openly say they don't want us around and will throw parades when they push us out.
Price Gouging
Is it really "gouging" when it is simple supply and demand issues? I thought price gouging was artificially increasing prices even though supply is high or demand is low. Granted, if oil companies were more concerned about people than profits, maybe they'd be willing to take a short term hit in the name of unity. But we are certainly a different breed of people compared to the 1940s where we voluntarily gave things up in the name of freedom. Or had private citizens that would help fund public works of their own free will. Now we have to force it onto people kicking and screaming. But enough Americans hate America so much that a little discomfort for a short while is too much to ask.
Legislative Blockade
If the Legislative Branch wasn't so obviously ideologically biased, maybe we could accept that it is supposed to be a slowing effect on change. But it is so clearly biased that we can't tell the difference between the system working as intended or simple spitefulness.

Something I've noticed that I've not heard anyone say on the Left (the Right wouldn't because we don't believe in it), why is it that they are perfectly happy with Mamdami having official events at Muslim religious facilities, but Trump holds up a Bible in front of a church that was firebombed and there's outrage about keeping a separation between church and state? Is it only Judaism and Christianity that aren't allowed in the public sector, but Islam is perfectly fine? Just another event showing that it isn't ideals they are standing for, but a hatred of certain views.
David, all titles in my News Weakly are meant to be ... humorous? At least, not serious. So "price gouging" simply referred to the pain we will experience in our pocketbooks. However, the phrase is "a pejorative term for the practice of increasing the prices of goods, services, or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair by some," and I've always felt that the prices demanded for gas and oil products is excessive, so ... it works that way, too, right? (My News Weakly is always a bit "less than precise" in favor of a little more poking fun.)
DeleteI guess I just don't see how it is unreasonable to expect oil prices to increase when supply is reduced by demand isn't. There are certainly other options we could use in the US, but we seem unwilling to forego some weird idea that extracting the oil we have is somehow worse for the environment than extracting it in the Middle East and shipping it here. It seems odd to me that we export more of our oil than we use. If we weren't so dependant on foreign goods, maybe executing a war abroad wouldn't be so painful to our pocketbooks, leaving the military to do its job rather than be beholden to the fickle whims of whining civilians that can't be bothered to look beyond their wallet. And that's ignoring things like, in Washington, more than a dollar a gallon goes to taxes because someone thought forcing electric cars on the populace wouldn't have adverse effects on the tax income.
DeleteAh! Missed a key point! "Price gouging" does not mean the increase is unreasonable or artificial. The term means SOMEONE THINKS it's unreasonable and unfair. (Although, increasing the prices by Iran blocking the source doesn't seem reasonable or fair to me. I mean, reasonable or fair of Iran.)
