No Love
A woman in New Zealand has been sentenced to at least 17 years in prison for murdering her two children and leaving their bodies in suitcases. I don't even ... You know, in Paul's second letter to Timothy, he writes about "the last days" (2 Tim 3:1-9). One characteristic, Paul says, will be that people will be "lovers of self" (2 Tim 3:2) and "heartless" (2 Tim 3:3 ESV). The Greek word is astorgos, where "a" refers to "not" and "storgos" refers to the natural, instinctual, family love -- "without natural affection" -- like the natural love of a mother for her children. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Robert Dear was found dead in federal custody. Ten years ago, he killed three people at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic because of his "Christian beliefs" opposing abortion. Found "incompetent to stand trial," he's been locked up ever since ... but ... don't you believe it. Opposition to abortion for Christian reasons is based on the sanctity of life ... directly opposite to shooting people. Don't you buy that "Christian values" line. His were not the same thing.
Illegal Legality?
I gotta tell you ... this seems ... problematic ... at best. The story is that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is ordering an investigation into Senator Mark Kelly (embarrassingly from Arizona) for his remarks telling military members to refuse to follow illegal orders. I'm not a Kelly fan, but it's the law. Article 92 of the UCMJ forbids obeying unlawful orders. Some of us remember the 1968 My Lai Massacre where Lieutenant Calley slaughtered 500 Vietnamese civilians because he was ordered to. I don't like Kelly, but if he only repeated what the law states, why is he being investigated?

Democrats from 21 states are suing the Trump administration because of cuts to SNAP in the GOP tax spending program. In other words, it is mandatory that the government provide SNAP ... maybe even constitutionally. Okay .. no, but it simply illustrates that things offered as a kindness soon become things demanded as rights and we're a crazy people.

In one Thanksgiving article, a family took a page from the debates and instituted a 2-minute speech rule with a 1-minute rebuttal time. It may not be more civil, but it's shorter. In another story, it turns out that heaven has confirmed that people who prefer ham to turkey on Thanksgiving will not enter the kingdom. So sorry. Everyone knows ham is for Christmas. Then the one I really enjoyed (if you get the nuance). Experts are reporting that AI could not only replace the jobs of humans, but also lawyers. Oh my!
Must be true; I read it on the internet.

ReplyDeleteI know Christians have been believing they were in the end times since the Apostles, but with the widespread lack of love from parents combined with the widespread acceptance of homosexuality (which Paul says is a sign of God's judgement on a people), it really seems like we might finally be there.

It is in fact our Christian values that is preventing us from burning down every Planned Parenthood. We are talking about the wholesale slaughter of millions of children and our reaction is to stand outside and pray.
Illegal Legality?
This is the craftiness of politicians. Technically, they didn't do anything wrong expect repeat what every military man knows. It's the timing of it that makes it suspect, but since they didn't actually claim what order was unlawful, they keep themselves free of prosecution. But combined with their other comments, it's clear they believe every command Trump gives is an unlawful command. This whole thing is a big nothing burger of both sides posturing.
Hey! Where's My Rights?
It has gotten so bad that there are 42 million people on SNAP. And I don't mean so bad economically, but in entitlement. There are thousands of videos on social media of obese people revealing their SNAP hauls, showing that they clearly are not actually in need of SNAP, they're not looking to be on the verge of starvation. I even heard of a 38-year-old man, no kids, no wife, no disability, complaining that he needs his SNAP benefits because he "can't get a job" for being a felon. We have an entire generation of people growing up believing that the government must be responsible for feeding and housing all of its citizens. We should only work for our leisure time, not to feed, clothe, and house ourselves.
The thing with the six idiots telling the military to not obey illegal orders; The LEFT has been saying all year that Trump is operating against the Constitution, and that he's doing a lot of things illegally (which he isn't), so these six morons are implying that Trump is giving illegal orders. They are trying to instigate an insurrection, suggesting that Trump needs to be disobeyed because he is operating illegally. Yet no one has been able to to show one example of anything illegal that he has done. The six are stirring up trouble.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Glenn. When they say not to obey illegal orders and then redefine "illegal orders" in their own version, that IS a problem.

ReplyDeleteI can't even conceive of a reason which would compel me to do something like this...and I really hate my kids! (kidding) When I hear these kinds of stories I can't help but believe there was some way to foresee the possibility, but no one acted to prevent it. It's the same as with every case of a mass shooting, particularly at schools. How can anyone doubt that evil exists?

I do see this as a defense of the innocent thing, but personally, I'd move to destroy the facility. In a sane world, a moral world, few would oppose any action to defend innocent life, including shooting the hired killers.
Sadly...we don't live in such a world, so what to we have? We have a world where one woman kills her kids and puts their bodies in suitcases and she gets (not enough) prison time, contrasted with a person who prevented the murder of innocents and he's considered crazy for killing the hired killers.
Indeed. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
Illegal Legality?
The issue here is what was the true motivation for making the video? They are indeed implying that Trump is breaking some law and ordering subordinates to carrying out is lawlessness. So it's not only mutinous and akin to inciting insurrection, it's slanderous as well. I think an investigation is well warranted.
Hey! Where's My Rights?
I'm beginning to believe that "rights" are often not rights at all these days. It depends on who is claiming theirs are at risk and too often those who do are abusing the term to get what they want.
